There's a solid chance your question is already answered here in the FAQ:

Discounts

Q: Is there a discounted bundle price for all the plugins? Or, student discounts?

No, sorry.

Q: Why not?

I've kept the prices discounted from the beginning. For example, the price of the L2007 is a mere $89. Other equivalent limiters of similar sonic caliber can be over $500. More importantly, running a bundle upgrade and student discount system doesn't "come for free." It would require a real investment of my limited time and resources. As a one-man operation, I try to make operating decisions that positively impact all the patrons of Massey plug-ins. Therefore, I think my effort is better spent fixing bugs, adding features, developing upgrades, and providing support. Since I'm not burning away time managing superfluous systems and formulating marketing gimmicks, I can provide more value to everyone.

The Demos

Q: I've been using the demos and I think they're great! But, whenever I reload a session, the settings of every plugin are reset to default. Are these things working correctly!?

Yes. Massey plug-ins take a different perspective on software demonstrations. Instead of dying after 7 or 14 days, these demos never expire. You can use them as long as you like -- you just need to reset the settings upon usage. The Pro Tools comments section is handy place to keep notes of your settings.

Q: I've installed the plug-ins but they're not showing up in the insert list. What gives??

Most of the demo versions of the plugs run at either 44.1k or 48k. So make sure you're at the right sample rate. Also, most of the demo versions are mono. The limiter is stereo. So, make sure you're looking at the correct type of track too. Here is a test session that contains all flavors of the demo plug-ins. This will quickly prove whether or not the plug-ins are installed properly: MasseyDemoTest.pts.zip

Compatibility

Q: Are your plugins compatible with this or that latest version of Pro Tools, XP, or OS X?

Contrary to popular belief and all those charts Digidesign puts up on their website, every release of an operating system and every incremental release of Pro Tools does not cause a plugin compatibility break. There have only been 2 forced compatibility breaks on Mac in the past 10 years (at v6.0 and v7.0), and one on XP (at v6.1).

Q: Are your plugins compatible with the Digidesign VENUE system?

Yes. I do not actively test them on a VENUE system, but there are no reported problems. Use these installation instructions.

Q: Are you going to port these plug-ins to AU, VST, DirectX, etc!??

I would love to support all the platforms. But, maintaining and debugging so many variations would be a significant on-going commitment that could compromise my current support and maintenance obligations. So, for the time being, I plan to focus on the current offerings and my existing customers. In the future, when time permits, I will certainly revisit the decision to tackle other platforms.

Q: Should I still contact you to voice my support of AudioUnits or VST?

Probably not. This only distracts me from what free time I have. So, you would actually be hurting your cause because I would then have less spare time in which to actually do such work.

Miscellaneous

Q: How can I get the complimentary DTM plugin?

This plugin is no longer available.

Q: Does this mean DTM is now a free plugin I can just copy from someone else?

No. The license agreement is still in effect.

Q: Will you give me a copy of DTM if I contact you directly?

No. Please don't. Take comfort in knowing I'm busy reworking the DTM technology into a pay-for product with lots more features and even better detection.

Q: Where are Pro Tools plug-in files kept on my hard drive?

On Windows XP, it is here:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plug-Ins\

On OS X, it is here:
[boot volume]/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins/

Installation

Q: I've installed the Full/purchased version of a plugin, but the plugin interface is still showing "Demo Version" and still acts like the demo within Pro Tools. How do I fix it?

There are a couple different possible reasons this happened:
  1. You didn't actually run the full installer. Double check that the installer has "Full" in its file name.
  2. Or, you ran the full installer while Pro Tools was running, or the Digidesign Plug-Ins folder has incorrect user permissions. Now multiple copies of the plugin are installed.

    To fix:

    1. Quit Pro Tools!
    2. Double check that Pro Tools is quit and not just minimized.
    3. Open and inspect the contents of the Digidesign "Plug-Ins" folder on your hard drive. Remove any and all plug-in files that looks like plug-in in question. For example, for the L2007 you might see files that look like:
      • L2007 Mastering Limiter Demo
      • L2007 Mastering Limiter.dpm
      • L2007 Mastering Limiter Demo.dpm
      • zzz L2007 Mastering Limiter Demo.dpm
      • zzz L2007 Mastering Limiter Demo.dpm.rsr
    4. Delete the "DAE Prefs" folder.
    5. Re-run the full installer.

Future Plugins

Q: Do you plan on developing a reverb plugin?

Probably not. There's a legitimate reason why the good ones are ridiculously expensive and the cheap ones sound horrible. They can require years and years of dedicated research and development. And after all that hard work, I probably wouldn't be inclined to sell it for 69 bucks! A reverb is simply one thing you can't do on the cheap. So, just buy the Bricasti or the like. And, take comfort in knowing that a reverb of that caliber is worth its every penny.

Having a technical problem?

When contacting me about a technical difficulty, please state the issues precisely and descriptively. This is some useful information to include:
  1. State the individual steps you have taken prior to reaching the issue.
  2. Then, clearly state what the problem is.
  3. Include other input cues are you experiencing at the moment of the problem: sights, sounds, smells, tastes, etc. Is there an onscreen error message? If so, what is it?
  4. What is preventing you from passing beyond the issue?
  5. Provide any other relevant details about your environment. For example: What operating system (and version) are you using? What version (and CS patch!) of Pro Tools are you running? What version of the plugin(s) are you using? etc.
  6. What steps have you taken yourself to resolve the issue? Have you deleted "DAE Prefs"?
